Nick Boisson Not only is this a great album of video game music covers, but it is also just a phenomenal jazz album! I know people who don't play video games and dug the music. Favorite track: Paperboy (Paperboy).
Matt Spears

Matt Spears One of the first OneUps albums I bought (along with Volume 2 at the same time). I remember hearing The OneUps on Last.fm, and I just had to have more. After doing research, I manage to find their albums and was able to get what I wanted. Never would have guessed they would become my favorite band. The album I believe is a classic in itself. Koopa Beach is a classic Mario Kart theme made perfect for sunny days, or just to relax. Favorite track: Koopa Beach (Super Mario Kart).

about

The OneUps Volume 1 is the culmination of everything that OneUp Studios has been working towards, and the video game cover band's first album makes the realization these goals even more apparent. The instrumental performances in this collection put style and musicianship before all else, and this makes for a brand of music that easily appreciated by any listener, regardless of their level of interest in gaming. This six-piece band takes songs from games like the Super Mario and Zelda series, as well as Donkey Kong Country, Bomberman, and many more, and gives them new interpretations that takes game music into bold new directions.
